Subject: Kitchener Aero Performs Special Missions Avionics Completions for Airborne Geophysics Client FUGRO Airborne Surveys.

Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA - Kitchener Aero (KAAV) is a premier avionics sales, installation and integration firm. The focus of KAAV's technical expertise is in corporate and general aviation markets - where they have been responsible for many industry firsts - especially in the area of Special Missions development and installation.

Barry Aylward, founder and President of KAAV, recently announced that the firm has now completed an extensive avionics upgrade to a CASA 212, owned and operated by Fugro Airborne Surveys.

Fugro have over forty years of experience in developing Aerial Eltromagnetics (AEM) systems and providing surveys using this technology. The firm has offices around the world - calling Calgary, Ottawa, Mississauga and Montreal home in Canada. Operating a mixed fleet of various helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, Fugro have executed AEM projects in more than 50 nations. Typically these systems are used in mineral exploration where bedrock is the target.

Known as GEOTEM and MEGATEM survey services, Fugro use highly modified Dash 7, CASA 212 and Skyvan aircraft for their operations. These survey platforms are easily recognized because of the transmitter loop that encircles the aircraft from the wingtips to special booms off the noise and tail. There is also a distinctive receiver coil in a "stinger" that extends beyond the tail. The transmitter loop is coupled to systems onboard the aircraft that produce an effective depth of exploration/mapping within a large footprint.

The CASA 212 was introduced for GEOTEM work by Fugro in 1985 and has been operated around the world on five different continents. This system has become the standard of excellence for fixed-wing electromagnetic (FWEM) operations. Constantly upgraded since its introduction, the Canadian based aircraft has been the subject of an extensive avionics retrofit by Kitchener Aero. The avionics upgrades are intended to make aircraft compliant with current JAA requirements throughout Europe.

The CASA 212 mod program focused on the Nav, Com, GPS and Transponder systems and will allow Fugro to take full advantage of recent changes and improvements in GPS aided navigation and position technology. Specifically, this involved the KAAV team removing the existing VHF Com, VOR/ILS, GPS, Transponders & Nav Displays. These units were replaced with a new package based on a Dual Garmin GNS 530 - integrated Nav/Com, IFR GPS systems and Dual Garmin GTX 330 Mod S Transponders along with a Dual EHSI's (Electronic HSI).

According to Barry Aylward - "With the new avionics package the cockpit of the CASA has a modern and clean appearance. It offers dramatically enhanced functionality and situational awareness for the flight crew."

In conjunction with sister firm Mid Canada Mod Center, KAAV have been recipients of various awards and accolades for business and technical excellence, and outstanding customer support. They operate facilities at both the Kitchener/Waterloo Regional (CYKF) and Toronto International (CYYZ) airports. This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Kitchener Aero's AMO.
